BCHS's 100th Anniversary Celebration

June 1 -4, 2023 (new date!!)

Important CO-VID Update

The purpose of this update is to inform you of the decision to postpone Burlington Central’s 100th Anniversary Reunion for a year until June 1-4, 2023 due to the uncertainty of the CO-VID situation. This was a most difficult determination, but the members of the Steering Committee were unanimous in their consensus after considering a number of factors. All along, the desire of the Committee has been to offer a rich experience to all alumni and former and current staff building on the phenomenal success of 1997’s 75th Anniversary Reunion. A significantly altered event or a virtual alternative would not achieve that goal. We were also concerned about the financial implications of continuing to plan the Anniversary Reunion for June 2022. How would potential capacity limits and attendees’ nervousness about attending affect the turn-out? We could not risk running events at a loss due to diminished attendance. Our sponsors and donors have been exceptionally generous in their support of the Anniversary Reunion, and we also wanted to protect their investment. (note: their names are included in our sponsorship shout-out below)

Another significant factor was the access to the school and the involvement of the current staff and students in preparations for the Anniversary Reunion activities. Currently, visitors still do not have access to Halton schools, and extracurricular activities are again on hold. In these uncertain times, it is difficult to predict if/when the situation would change and allow us to further engage with the school in planning the events of June 2022.

We understand that this is a disappointing turn of events, but we continue to look forward to the opportunity to reconnect with high school friends and staff members – mask-free – in a fun-filled and meaningful schedule of activities in June 2023. In the meantime, we will continue to reach out in search of more Burlington Central alumni and former staff members to participate in the celebration. So, please share the link for this page with family and friends who have not yet submitted their contact information to the Anniversary Reunion database, they can click on the button at the top right of this page.

Finally, let’s put a positive spin on this latest development - a one-year postponement worked for the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games and our 100th Anniversary celebration is certainly on par!

The Show Will 'still' Go On!

Despite the delay in Central’s 100th Anniversary Reunion, planning will continue for various events that will take place over the weekend of June 1-4, 2023 (and we are confident COVID will be behind us by then!). We hope one of those events will be a Musical Theatre Production.

Following the example of previous ‘grad shows’ directed by Helen Zdriluk, we’re planning for this reunion show to feature Central Company alumni performing selections from past productions. We’re thus reaching out to see if you’d be interested in being a part of this reunion show in some way. If you could take a minute to fill out this Google Form (Grad Show Information Form), indicating your interest and the capacity in which you’d like to be involved, it would be greatly appreciated. We’re hoping for as many responses as possible over the next number of months, so we can move forward with planning, but will of course continue to accept responses after that time.

Please feel free to share this with fellow Central Company alumni so that we can include as many people as possible.

Sponsorship Shout-out

The 100th Anniversary Sponsorship Committee has been actively engaged in a campaign to help support the 100th reunion celebration. The list of names below is an incredible testament to the generosity demonstrated by alumni-owned and local businesses, and individual donors within our great community that have answered our call. Their leadership and financial commitment to the reunion will help to ensure that the infrastructure is in place and that event and ticket prices will remain affordable for those that attend the 100th celebration. Our entire Central Family thanks you!
