Dear Central Parents,
On Thursday October 20th, 2016 all grade ten students will be writing the OSSLT (Literacy test).  This test is completely online. In an effort to teach students strategies, and give them the opportunity to try the practice test our Literacy team has done the following things:
  • worked one on one with students who had some challenges with the practice test last year
  • we have provided an information and practice session to period two grade ten classes
  • all teachers are teaching literacy strategies
  • lessons will continue to be taught for multiple choice, short answer, opinion essay, and the news report
During the month of October there are 5 after school/lunch sessions that students are invited to and encouraged to attend.  These sessions will start on Thursday October 6th at lunch in the library. Subsequent sessions will be after school onOct. 11th, 13th, 18th and 19th (at lunch). The sessions are about an hour and a half.

Attendance will be taken at each session.  Students can show up on Oct. 6th or you can sign your child up by emailing Ms. R. MacRae at  As well, you may contact Ms. MacRae with questions or concerns.
If the student is successful with the online test, they do not have to write the test in March.  If the student is unsuccessful they will get another chance to write the test in March.

Here is the link to the EQAO site and the practice online test.  Please encourage your child to go onto the site and practice the test.
